The XCOM series spiritual successor Phoenix Point has been delayed to release in December 2019.
XCOM Spiritual Successor Phoenix Point Delays Release For December
Julian Gollop the mind behind theXCOMseries was set to release the upcoming spiritual successorPhoenix Point this September 3rd. However, anew postby community manager Kevin Hill has shared that it won’t be releasing until later this year inDecember 2019, due to needing more time in development:
While the development team [Snapshot Games] is working hard, and Phoenix Point is shaping up really well, we now know we’re going to need more time to get it to meet our very high standards.

However, for those who supported by backing the FIG crowdfunding project, will be able to play the Backer Build 5 on the originally announced launch date of September 3rd. This will allow those who play to provide feedback.
Phoenix Point will pit players against aliens, but with the added element of these aliens being able to take DNA from different species, altering themselves in the process. These transformations will result in devising the best tactics to counter these changes, and adapting to what they throw at you next. Through turn-based battles with a group of 4 soldiers, players will try to push back the alien forces.
