WhileMy Adventures with Supermanseason 2, episode 4 did not see Clark and Lex come to blows in the traditional sense, the latter won their first battle. This battle centered around the public perception of Superman, and whether the people of Metropolis would side with Jimmy or Lex regarding their points of view. By the end of the episode,Lex begins to win over the public and convince them that Superman is someone who should not be allowed the freedom to make his own decisionsthat could affect the people of Earth.

Concerning why Luthor’s victory is important, it sets up a season of trouble for Clark. As ofMy Adventures with Supermanseason 2, episode 4’s ending, Clark is left in a difficult spot. Not only does he have to reckon with the continued exploits of Task Force X, but the group is now receiving much more support from the likes of S.T.A.R. Labs and even the U.S. government.Lex’s campaign against Superman saw these organizations pledge their support to him and Waller, providing Task Force X with more resources.

Lex now has much more power than he once had. Instead of being a boy with vengeful thoughts against Superman, he is transitioning into the powerful villain who has endless resources at his disposal to go against the Kryptonian. This can only mean bad news for Clark going forward, as he undoubtedly faces more battles against his nemesis Lex Luthor after losing the first inMy Adventures with Supermanseason 2, episode 4.
