Like many games,Hyper Light Breakerfeatures a health bar. There are ways to help you avoid losing health through equipment and Holobytes, and you might be able to pick up white health orbs after combat if an enemy drops one, helping you recover a small amount of health you might’ve lost. However, the best way to recover health is, of course, Medkits.
Hyper Light Breaker Takes the Series in a Bold-Yet-Fun Direction
Heart Machine heads down a different path with their next game, Hyper Light Breaker, one that may seem odd at first, yet gives way to some sheer fun.
Medkits aren’t as straightforward as you might think. When you firststart out in Hyper Light Breaker, you don’t have the ability to craft or carry any Medkits, meaning it’s difficult to restore your health, so your best bet might be dying and using a Rez rather than running around with a sliver of health. Luckily, you can work towards unlocking Medkits even during your earliest runs.

How to Get Medkits
You need to unlock Medkits by visiting Pherus Bit in the Hub andusing a Gold Ration to buy the Medkit Capacitynode on the upgrade list. This makes it possible for you to craft Medkits using Medigems at the Telepad in the Hub when you’re about to deploy, or at Shrines you’ll come across in the Overgrowth. You need five Medigems to make one Medkits.
Getting Gold Rations
The only way to get Gold Rations is by completing runs, which means you use all four Rezes that you have to save you from death, letting you return to the Hub and deploy back into the same version of the Overgrowth. After you use your last Rez, you’ll find an NPC by the Telepad that you need to speak with. He willreset the Overgrowth so you can start a new run, and you earn rewards, which includes Gold Rations. You might not get a Gold Ration for every run, but you’ll at least earn progress towards one. Medkit Capacity isn’t the only upgrade you can get with a Gold Ration, so it’s worth taking a look at everything available.
Collecting Medigems
Unlike Medkits, you’re able to collect Medigems from the beginning. They’replants that you can find around the Overgrowth with a white glowand an appearance similar to marshmallows on sticks. When you get close to one, you get a prompt to interact with the plant and collect a few Medigems. By the time you unlock Medkits, you’ll likely already have quite a few Medigems to use just from picking them up as you see them. Then, you have at least one reliable way to restore some health after combat.
