Where to Find the Compass Artifact

The Compass can be found in the Cordon, a little to theeast of the starting location in the Lesser Zone. Veteran Stalkers may still remember Cordon as being the starting location in the original game,S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. Players who follow the storyline will be tasked with visiting the Cordon about 15-20 hours or so into the game for a quest. However, you’re able to get there much sooner if you’re willing to stray off the beaten path.

The Compass can be found in the western part of the Cordon in a place called theNuclear Waste Burial. If you’ve already progressed the story to the point where you’ve reached the Rookie Village, start walking north, and you’ll find the Nuclear Waste Burial in no time. If you’re still in the Lesser Zone, go to the south of the region until you reach theLevitating Silo. From there, start traveling southeast until you come across thePerimeter Decontamination Center. The Nuclear Waste Burial can be found directly east of that location.

Like the lure of the siren, the Poppy Field calls to you, Stalker.

How to Extract the Compass Artifact

Similar to most other Artifacts, the Compass needs to beextracted from an Anomaly Fieldbefore it can be collected. This particular Anomaly Field is small but tricky to navigate as it contains three different types of hazards. You’ve got several spherical Gravitational Anomalies you’ll need to watch for, with a bunch of Glass Shards in between, and a fair amount of Radiation to top it all off.

The Radiation alone can kill you in a matter of minutes, sowe highly recommend you wear a hazard

Welcome (back) to The Zone, Stalker.

suit like theSSP-99 Ecologistbefore jumping in. Meanwhile, Artifacts likeSteakandShop Classthat provide bleeding resistance combined with theVincadrug should be enough to prevent you from bleeding out in seconds. That said, you should still have aBandageor two at the ready, just in case. As always, use your Bolt to temporarily deactivate Gravitational Anomalies so you can safely pass through them. Hopefully, you already have a Bear Scanner by the time you reach the Nuclear Waste Burial because the Echo Scanner might not be strong enough to extract the Artifact.

The Compass will show upin the center of the Nuclear Waste Burial near the blue chest. The chest itself contains a bit of random loot, but there’s nothing particularly interesting inside. The real prize is the Compass, a one-of-a-kind Artifact thatprovides Maximum Physical resistance. That said, the Artifact also emits a ton of Radiation, so verify you’re wearing gear with strong Radiation protection before you equip it. If you don’t want to risk accidentally getting a lethal dose of Radiation, you can simply sell the Compass to a vendor in exchange for a ton of Coupons.
