Excluding the odd plot thread here and there,Diablo 4manages to create and answer a wealth of questions it sets up for itself, despite not answering too many left open through previous games (Tyrael’s status chief among them). That is, except for the game’s ending, which sees Neyrelle make aninteresting choicethat could have heavy implications for future expansions. Here’s where Neyrelle is going at the end of Diablo 4.
Where is Neyrelle Headed After Diablo 4 Ends?
DISCLAIMER: Spoilers ahead for the end of Diablo 4.
To get a bit of a refresher, Diablo 4 ends withNeyrelle absorbing Mephisto’s essencewithin a Soulstone, trapping him there. Neyrelle tells the player character she’llhead back to Lorath, though once back to him, you learn she never went to meet him. You check the Chapel and the Horadric Vault with no Neyrelle to be found, though she doesleave a letter written in Horadric Code. As Lorath reads it, we see Neyrelle go through all sorts of terrain withMephisto’s wolf formfollowing her and his Soulstone. In the end, she gets on a boat andheads across the open water, with her direction and intentions not entirely clear.Related:Where is Tristram in Diablo 4? – AnsweredFrom here, it’s a matter of mostly speculation. Thanks to the vague nature of the cutscene, we don’t have perfect guesses as to where she’s headed. With that being said, the order of the various cutscenes can give some strong hints. She begins trekking through the Fractured Peaks, followed immediately by the deserts of Kehjistan, while finally ending in a forested location before taking a boat. With the framing of the boat, many believe she’s headed somewhere West to possiblyAranoch, Khanduras, or even theSharval Wilds. Keep in mind again that this is all justspeculation, and could be completely wrong when a DLC answers this question.
Why Did Neyrelle Leave at the End of Diablo 4?
As for why Neyrelle left in the first place, that end is also confusing though some strong theories have come out of the community. Chief among them is a theory that Neyrelle isbeing manipulated by Mephisto to do his bidding. Later in the game, she has an abrupt shift where she believes Mephisto should be trapped in the Soulstone instead of Lilith. Soulstones are also known to have a direct influence on those in close proximity to them. Given thatMephisto’s bloodied wolf is following her, it’d make sense that he could be attempting to use her for his own gains. Perhaps he’s getting her to take him somewhere where it’s easier to resurrectBaal and Diablowithout the main character stepping in, for example.Again, the answers to these questions are left purposely vague. We won’t know anything concrete until an expansion is announced, though we’ll update this post once we are given those details.
