Learn how to deal with R.E.P.O.’s watchful Peeper, a sinister eye that hides on ceilings and has a stare to die for.
This guide will teach the basics of these two upgrades and explain some of the use cases that let you best take advantage of them.

Basics of the Crouch Rest Upgrade
The Crouch Rest upgrade increases the speed at which you regenerate Stamina while crouched and standing still. It begins relatively affordable and gets progressively more expensive with each purchase of the upgrade. The first purchase of Crouch Rest can often be underwhelming; at the time of writing, the natural Stamina recovery rate while crouched and staying still is already fairly good and the rate of increase granted by the first use of this upgrade can be difficult to notice.
The value of the Crouch Rest upgrade is debatable. Some in the community believe the default recovery rate is already high enough (possibly too high and in need of a nerf) and that you will generally be better offspending your money elsewhere. While there’s some validity to this opinion, asecondCrouch Rest upgrade and beyond does result in a genuinely noticeable jump in Stamina recovery speed.

Assuming you want to improve your Stamina usage and recovery, the real consideration that ought to be made is whether Crouch Rest outweighs the closest alternative upgrade, straight Stamina upgrades (which increase your Stamina by 10 and begin as the cheapest upgrades available). Like with Crouch Rest, a single Stamina upgrade is generally going to be equally if not more underwhelming. Practically speaking, you’ll likely want to buy either upgrade in a set of two or more to make them feel more impactful. Bothdohelp your survivability, but you’ll feel a more immediate impact buying something like a Strength or Sprint Speed upgrade.

Basics of the Tumble Wings Upgrade
The Tumble Wings upgrade gives a character the ability to glide by pressing the Tumble button (Q by default) while in the air.Gliding will allow a character to move farther in the direction they are traveling and avoid fall damage, assuming they don’t fall into a deadly pit or acid pool (which still instantly kills you as normal).Gliding in this way will cause a character to temporarily sprout a small pair of wings, which will noisily flutter as they fly. Like Crouch Rest, it also begins fairly cheap, with the lowest price found in testing a reasonable $4k.
Not all elements of this upgrade are fully understood. It seems taking this upgrade multiple times increases the distance you’re able to glide. It’s currently unclear from testing if the fluttering of the wings actually produces noise monsters can detect, although this is unlikely to be a frequent issue even if the noise is detectable.

Note that it’s also likely elements of both Tumble Wings and Crouch Rest will change as the beta updates are adjusted for balance and eventually are made a part of the full release.
Tumble Wings, at present, seems like a mid-tier upgrade. Its ability to negate fall damage can make it useful for quickly jumping down tall, complex rooms. Additionally, gliding can make the various jumping puzzles that often hide some of the more difficult-to-reach loot in levels significantly easier to grab. These two use cases start out pretty rare, but one will start to more frequently encounter large falls and jumping puzzles as one enters later stages of the game. This upgrade can certainly be valuable, but it won’t be nearly constantly helping you in the same wayStrength, Health, and Sprint Speed upgradescan. At the same time, if it saves you from even a single fall that otherwise would have killed you, you’d probably feel it was worth it.

Gliding can be a decent panic response when an enemy is nearby and about to attack you. This is better for a melee-centric enemy likethe Headman, but enemies with ranged attacks can still be dodged with some luck and good timing.

Get some tips and tricks for exploring the Avant-Garde, the new museum level introduced with R.E.P.O.’s latest update.
In testing, it didn’t seem like there was much value to taking this upgrade multiple times, although it’s possible this changes givenenoughof these upgrades (being able to jump and glide long distances without using Stamina could have its uses). While there is some value in an upgrade that can negate fall damage, you don’t usually need to jump down long distances in R.E.P.O. While later stages can have some precarious holes and ledges, it can be a bit hard to control the glide ability such that even the ability to glide a long way over a gap might make actuallytryingto do so a bit too risky.
It’s likely there are some high-level strategies to be discovered with gliding that weren’t uncovered in testing. It’s certainly an interesting upgrade, especially combined with things like the Double Jump upgrade to consistently get a decent height before starting the glide.
