In a year where we’ve been spoiled with great co-op games from indie studios, we’re getting yet another co-op game, this time a hack-and-slash, from semi-independent debutants To The Sky. They’re backed by Thunderful, the publishers behind fan-favourite games such as The Eternal Die and the Steamworld series.

The new title, Godbreakers, promises to be a fast-paced third-person action game that tests reflexes, puts pressure on your strategies, and offers a variety of flexibility with various builds and team comps. You can slay solo or with a team, taking on scores of enemies and powerful bosses alike.

“We wanted to create a game that feels fast, fluid and fun, where every moment is a chance to unleash chaos alongside your friends,” – Jugo Mirkovic, CEO and Executive Producer of To The Sky

Godbreakers is set to launch in 2025 on PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), and offers an alluring premise to gamers who love a chaotic, action-packed experience to share with their friends.

In a bleak future, you play a vessel of humanity, brought back by celestial beings to destroy the Monad, a powerful artificial intelligence. You can absorb enemy powers and use them to decimate foes, cancel animations for a new level of control, and take down huge bosses across six different biomes.

Backed by industry veterans, To The Sky aims to offer a gameplay-first experience that crushes expectations and offers an easy-to-pick-up yet hard-to-master system.

As a lifetime gamer, I was around to enjoy the NES, witness the birth of the PS1, and live through the golden age that was the PS2. My favorite game (no doubt driven by nostalgia) is Final Fantasy VII, but I’m always on the lookout for my new favorite.
