Weapons aren’t hard to come across inThe First Descendant. Down an enemy, loot them, and you’ll more than likely snag a solid Normal or Rare-type weapon. Out of all the weapon types, however, the Ultimate ones stand out, especially when upgraded.
Best Characters in The First Descendant, Ranked
You can run any of these First Descendant characters to victory, whether you’re taking down mobs or battling bosses.
There are more than a dozen Ultimateweaponsin The First Descendant, and what turns out to be the best depends on your character build. But the ones listed here are a few favorites that are exciting to play with once they’re fully built.

These rankings can change based on future patches. So, for now, we’re basing the list on the current setup and meta, along with personal preference.
10Thunder Cage
Submachine Gun
Thunder Cage remains asolid choice for newcomerswhen it comes to mobbing. It has a high rate of fire, and once fully upgraded, its Electric Charge has a 100% trigger rate. To get the most out of it, you’ll want to optimize it for AoE since it thrives in that avenue.
One of the best things about Thunder Cage is that it’s an Ultimate that anyone can get. You don’t have to stress about any cores. Follow the main storyline, and you’ll snatch a heavy-hitting weapon in no time.

9Albion Calvary Gun
Machine Gun
Albion Calvary is another fun Ultimate weapon for newbies just like Thunder Cage. With each successful critical hit, it’ll ricochet to nearby enemies and stun them, making it a good choice for mobbing situations or purge runs.
This gun works perfectly with Descendants who lean into stunning enemies such as Sharen and Ajax. If you main either of them and add the right mods (i.e. ones that further increase critical hit rate), you’ll have yourself a worthwhile gun to use in place of finding the higher-ranked ones on the list.

8Blue Beetle
Scout Rifle
Pushing Valby or Sharen? Blue Beetle is the go-to Ultimate weapon to ensure your heroes shine. It’s not a weapon you bring to the table for general use. You want to take full advantage of it for crit builds.
7 Ways To Level Up Quickly In The First Descendant
Kill Vulgus, level up, simple as that!
With its unique ability, it buffs skill critical hit rate. So, to lean into that, using the right cores is key to making Blue Beetle as powerful as possible. Grappling and sprint cores are perfect for it, so load up on them whenever you can.
7Greg’s Reversed Fate
Tactical Rifle
Out of the best Ultimate weapons in The First Descendant, Greg’s Reversed Fate is a pleasant bossing gun. Maxed out, it offers high DPS. And thanks to its unique ability, it works even better against enemies with max shield as it causes bombardment on their location.
What’s best is that this gun is simply fun to use. You can load it up with fire rate cores. Not only does this greatly improve its damage, but it’s flashy and loud. If you want to enjoy the looks of the game as much as the game itself, then this is a great go-to weapon.

6Ancient Knight
Assault Rifle
Although Serena is generally good with any weapon, with Ancient Knight, the character thrives. Unlike some other Ultimate weapons, you don’t want to focus on any type of crit build with this. Instead, we want to use it for in-air battles.
While flying around, you may ramp up multi-hit damage with this rifle. It pays to use up as many multi-hit and damage mods you can get. Serena will quickly become a menace in the air, mowing down mobs of enemies.

5Restored Relic
Restored Relic is the go-to Ultimate weapon in The First Descendant for both mobbing and bossing. This launcher has a good multi-hate rate alongside a respectable crit rate. But if you use Gley, you can enjoy an infinite ammo build.
This is another Ultimate weapon you want to fill with fire rate cores. But you’re able to just use Restored Relic for characters like Enzo if you want to focus purely on the mobbing potential. You’ll need to ensure it’s maxed out and has enough mods to improve its use.
4Secret Garden
For versatility across different Descendants, Secret Garden is a top pick. It can both give you a buff while working to debuff enemies you hit. As a tactical rifle, it’s perfect when you want to rush in and mow everyone down.
The weapon works even better once you add grapple and sprint cores. This will greatly improve mobility, giving you more freedom to move in and out of the battle as needed. As a bonus, the rifle also fits well with skill builds. So, if you have a skill-heavy Descendant who you need to be a little quicker on their feet, give them the Secret Garden.
Sniper Rifle
There’s no underselling A-TAMS. If you want a nuke disguised as a sniper rifle, pour yourself into getting this Ultimate weapon. You’ll want to get weapon cores as soon as possible because when upgraded and modded, the rifle can take down enemies in seconds.
Some of the best mods to focus on are the explosion radius and multi-hit. These are what help transform it into a mini-nuke. Even elemental damage can increase its damage tremendously. With how fast it works, it’s great for taking down colossusbosses.
2The Last Dagger
The Last Dagger is indeed one of the meta S-tier weapons in The First Descendant. Itonlybecomes a top-performing Ultimate weapon, however, when it’s maxed out. You want to aim for a full set of cores, and in some cases, the Firing Fiesta mod too. Focus on further improving its weak point damage and crit damage.
What mods you use depend on the Descendant as someone like Gley, for instance, won’t need Firing Fiesta. Regardless of how you build it, once it’s maxed, you’ll see how much power such a small gun can pack, more so when taking down bosses.
1Malevolent
Hand Cannon
A fully-built Malevolent is one of the best mobbing Ultimate weapons The First Descendant has. It doesn’t work that well in the beginning stages, which is what makes other Ultimate guns like Albion Calvary great for mobbing in the meantime. But fill it up with cores and upgrade it to its fullest potential and Malevolent can take down nearly everything in sight.
Likewise with Last Dagger, Malevolent will fit in with any Descendant character. It can deal ridiculous damage thanks to the Bladed Cog projectiles that will bounce off between enemies. Unless you’re playing as Serena, utilize magazine mods to improve its use. Otherwise, it’ll need more fire rate mods to excel.
