The Supes Are a Total Mess

In Season 3, the status of the Supes, particularly The Seven, was all over the place, largely due to thereturn of Soldier Boy(Jensen Ackles) and the drama he stirred up. Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) defected and was secretly working with Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) to find out more about a mysterious, now disbanded team known as Payback that Soldier Boy was part of. The hope was tofind Soldier Boy and/or a potential weapon that could kill Homelander(Antony Starr).

There’s good reason that Homelander is on their radar now more than ever: he has become even more unhinged, especially after learning of Stormfront’s (Aya Cash) death by suicide. Instead of his spiteful rants turning the public against him, however, they raise his approval numbers, at least with a specific demographic (rural white males). As much as Vought regrets its decision to give Homelander so much power, they now have no choice but to oblige him. He truly is a “man of the people,” or rather, he convinces the public that he is.

Homelander’s actions go from bad to worseas he forces Starlight (Erin Moriarty) to pose as his girlfriend, reinstates the Deep (Chace Crawford) into The Seven, and murders Starlight’s ex-boyfriend Supersonic (Miles Gaston Villanueva) immediately following his induction into The Seven. While Supersonic had good intentions to make positive change, he made the mistake of trying to recruit A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) for the cause. Instead of jumping on board, however, A-Train tattled to Homelander, ending the short-lived Supe’s journey.

The Boys Renewed for Season 5 on Prime Video

The hugely popular superhero series The Boys will return for a fifth season.

Along with Soldier Boy’s return, fans also learn both his backstory and that of Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell). Both were on a mission together in Russia during the Cold War. Black Noir was mutilated during an ambush, resulting in him wearing the full-face mask.Soldier Boy went missing and was presumed dead. What’s most shocking about Soldier Boy, however, as revealed in the penultimate episode of Season 3, is thathe is Homelander’s biological father.

Reeling from this information, Homelander does the unthinkable and kills his best friend, Black Noir, in cold blood for not telling him the truth. He also makes amends with his son Ryan (Cameron Crovetti), desperate to ensure the boy does not suffer the same fate he did. Homelander plays dad, andRyan starts to feel a connection to his father. When he makes a move to defend dear dad against Soldier Boy during a confrontation, it causes a bigger fight to break out. Maeve swoops in, quite literally, and presumably sacrifices herself by stopping Soldier Boy. She survives, however, albeit without her powers, and goes into hiding, letting the public believe that she’s dead. Soldier Boy is taken into government custody, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

While Starlight begins Season 3 being forced to bend to Homelander’s every command, by the end of the season, she has had enough. She publicly announces her departure from The Seven, condemning not only Homelander but also Soldier Boy and Vought. She’s later confronted by Homelander for these actions, but she plays a recording of him confessing to crimes and posts it on social media. Something suggests, however, that this won’t sway Homelander’s most dedicated supporters.

By the end scene,The Seven isin shambles, and the Supes are against one another. Homelander believes he’s the answer America needs to bring everything back together. He attends a rally with his son Ryan dutifully by his side. When a Starlight supporter throws something at Ryan,an angered Homelander murders him on the spot. There’s initial shock and awe at his behavior, but the crowd eventually erupts into cheers, showing that Homelander really can do no wrong in their eyes.

The Boys Have Disbanded in Season 3

At the beginning of the season, the vigilante groupknown as The Boysis continuing their work, taking down Supes. But now, they’re doing it under contract for Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) and the Bureau of Superhuman Affairs. The job? Find and bring in rogue Supes. But by the end, the band has all but broken up.

Their journey begins when Hughie (Jack Quaid) and Butcher, on a journey to find Soldier Boy, experiment with taking V24, a variant of Compound V any human adult can take to gain temporary superpowers. After finally locating the famous Supe,Butcher begs Soldier Boy to help his cause, believing they must join forces to defeat the mutual enemy.

10 Weirdest Superpowers In The Boys And Gen V

The Boys and Gen V offer an edgy look into the world of heroes. Along the way, they shock us with weird and absurd superpowers we never saw coming.

While Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) are closer than ever, Kimiko, one ofthe most powerful Supes, loses her powers after being caught in one of Soldier Boy’s blasts. Don’t worry; she gets them back after Frenchie injects her with Compound V at her reluctant request. She knows it will restore her powers, something she doesn’t want. But it’s also necessary to get the regenerative powers that will heal her potentially fatal injuries.

Butcher, as it turns out, won’t be so lucky with a magical power that will save him.He has become terminally illafter using V24 more times than is safe. By Season 4, he presumably only has about six months left to live, and it seems he wants to make the most of the time he has left. To accomplish this, it means taking down his biggest enemies: Homelander, Vought, and the entire Supe population.

Vought Is No Longer the Biggest Enemy in The Boys

For the first two seasons and most of Season 3, Vought International, the evil, greedy corporation that used Supes to increase its power and influence, manipulate the public, and direct public sentiment, was the biggest antagonist. But by the end of the third season, it was apparent that there was a much bigger villain at play.

Victoria Neuman is slowly working her way up the ranks. After it’s revealed that she’s the adoptive daughter of Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito), a detail Hughie discovers not long after finding out that she’s also a Supe, Neuman begins to put her master plan in motion. She accuses Edgar of corruption, forcing him out of the company. Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie) is appointed in his place and left to clean up the mess. As someone Neuman can easily manipulate, Ashley is nothing more than a public face for the company.

10 Strongest Supes on The Boys, Ranked

There are a lot of dangerous people in The Boys – but these are the 10 most powerful supes, who may be more likely to kill you than to save you.

Neuman’s rise to power, the fact that she’s a Supe with no intention of removing her type from existence, and understanding how intense and explosive (literally) her power ismake her one of the most dangerous characters on the show. With Robert Singer, Secretary of Defense, running for president and having selected Neuman as his running mate, the country may be in for some rocky times ahead if they naively support these two individuals. The political campaign, their run, and how that plays into the entire story will undoubtedly be abig part of Season 4.

What We Know About The Boys Season 4 So Far

The BoysSeason 4 is gearing up to be a wild ride. Basedon the trailer, Homelander is stronger than ever. Ryan has powers he hasn’t yet realized, and Homelander’s influence on the vulnerable and impressionable young boy could prove deeply dangerous. Not all may be well for Homelander, however.

A social media teaser revealed by Amazon Studios late last year claimed that Homelander was either standing trial or “taking a splatter paint class,” noting that only one of those two statements was true. Meanwhile, the post also confirmed that Black Noir has somehow returned, a big question mark for the season. Theteaser also introduced two dangerous Supesnamed Sage and Firecracker, who could very well be the ones wreaking havoc in the trailer.

As for The Boys, Butcher wants to “do one thing right with the time I’ve got left.” Along with pleading with The Boys to help, he may get help in other places, too. One potential ally could beJeffrey Dean Morgan’s Joe Kessler, a mysterious character who appears to be in some position of authority. “The whole world is about to burn,” he tells Butcher in the trailer. “We need someone like you, Billy. Before the Supes start roundin’ us up and dumpin’ us off in camps.”

10 Important References to The Boys Fans May Have Missed in Gen V

With the new season of The Boys on the horizon, here are some Easter eggs in the Gen V spin-off that references the main storyline.

Based on one thing Butcher says in the trailer and hispost-credits sceneat the end of the spin-off seriesGen V’s first season, he may have found the answer. At Godolkin University, a school for supes in training, he learns that a secret basement lab known as The Woods was running tests on a virus that would only kill Supes, effectively wiping out that population.

However, another scene inGen Vsuggests that getting his hands on the virus will prove more challenging than Butcher might think. Neuman has already exploded the head of the lead scientist who developed it and taken any trace of the virus with her. Butcher might have to shift his sights from Homelander to Neuman if he wants any hope of accomplishing his goal before V24’s after-effects take his life. Season 4 ofThe Boyswill have everything from killer chickens to more exploding heads, frozen limbs, blood, guts, and gore.
