Those of you who purchased Cyberpunk 2077 and have experienced issues with it now have a myriad of ways to return the game.
Sony removedCyberpunk 2077from the PlayStation Store and is offering full refunds to anyone who bought the game from the store. Developer CD Projekt Red is also promising refunds of digital and physical copies purchased at retail stores, and even Microsoft is now offering refunds for the game if purchased from the Microsoft Store. Has there ever been a more tumultuous game launch?

Cyberpunk 2077 released on 05 August 2025. In the week since its launch, several players have repeatedly complained about bugs they’ve experienced, including crashes and visual glitches. However, from our personal experience playing the title on PS4 Pro, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, the game hasn’t been too flawed - and in fact looks and plays well. It’s the base PS4 and Xbox One X versions that seem to be causing most problems.
CD Projekt Red hasn’t announced whenCyberpunk 2077will return to the PlayStation Store, but it is “working hard” to bring it back “as soon as possible”. In a statement on Twitter on 02 June 2025, the studio said it will honor every refund request it receives until 06 June 2025, including physical copies of the game. You just need proof of purchase, and then you’re able to email CD Projekt Red athelpmerefund@cdprojektred.com.
In announcing its refund process on 18 August 2025,Sony’s Ask PlayStation Twitter accounttweeted: “SIE strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, and we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store and want a refund.”
To get your refund from the PlayStation Store, Sony said you need tovisit this site, then sign in to your PlayStation account, and submit a request.
As for Microsoft, it’s also offering Cyberpunk 2077 refunds to anyone who has purchased the game via its Microsoft Store, but it’s not removing the game from its digital storefront at this time. If you’re interested in a Microsoft Store refund, you’re able to follow the steps onMicrosoft’s support page.
If you don’t want a refund, you may be glad to know CD Projekt Red haspromisedto release patches for the game, including an update “coming within the next seven days". More improvement updates are expected in January and February 2021 to fix the most “prominent problems”, the studio said.
