The cast ofSaved by the Bellreunited over the weekend. Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris), Mario Lopez (A.C. Slater), Tiffani Thiessen (Kelly Kapowski), and Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie Spano) got together for dinner and drinks in the San Fernando Valley. Missing in action were Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle) and obviously Dustin Diamond (Screech Powers). Voorhies has not participated in any of the other times the cast has gotten together and Diamond isn’t really welcome after dragging the cast through the mud publicly over the past several years.
Mark-Paul Gosselaarposted a picture of the Bayside gang and their significant others on social media, along with Tiffani Thiessen and Mario Lopez. Lopez posted a video declaring the old friends had eaten a lot of food and were getting ready to play a game of “credit card” roulette when the bill came. The group definitely seemed to be enjoying each other’s company as they do every time they get together. The same group of cast members reunited in 2015 for aTonight Show with Jimmy Fallonskit, except Dennis Haskins (Mr. Belding) joined them.
With the 30thSaved by the Bellanniversary on the way, one has to wonder if the whole cast will reunite for an interview or TV special in the near future.Lark Voorhiesdid not attend theTonight Showreunion because her representative stated she was too busy to attend. However, it seems she would be more than willing to meet up with her former castmates in the future. Dustin Diamond is a whole other story and he might not be welcome if the cast does get together to do something officially.
Dustin Diamondhas gone through a lot of personal issues over the years, which has hurt his career. He wrote a book called Behind the Bell, documenting his time working onSaved by the Belland claimed the rest of the cast was mean to him and that they all hooked up with each other and enjoyed drugs and alcohol. Mark-Paul Gosselaar called it complete fiction at the time of its publication, but it was later the basis of the Lifetime network’sThe Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story. Diamond has since apologized for the book, movie, and things he said in the press. He later admitted that the book was ghost written for him.
While it’s unclear if theSaved by the Bellcast will do anything official for the 30th anniversary, it’s clear that they still enjoy being around each other. If something official does come down the line, it will be interesting to see if Dustin Diamond is involved or not, though he more than likely will not be invited. you’re able to check out some pictures of the reunion from over the weekend below, thanks toTiffani Thiessen’s Instagramaccount.
