I was 21 and I kind of wanted to make it as artsy as possible and so we had this strange tension where to studio was kind of a little bit scared to make things a little bit too emo and stuff. And I thought that was the only way to play it.

Pattinson recalled that it wasn’t until his manager and agent advising got involved that he changed his attitude. The actor explained they had told him,“Okay, so whatever you’re doing right now, after lunch just do the opposite, or you’ll be fired by the end of the day.”Although he did not completely agree with his team or the studio, the 38-year-old chose to bite his tongue. In fact, the star admitted,“So that was the only thing that got me to sort of smile a little bit.”

When you read the book, it’s like, ‘Edward Cullen was so beautiful I creamed myself.’ I mean, every line is like that. He’s the most ridiculous person who’s so amazing at everything. I think a lot of actors tried to play that aspect. I just couldn’t do that. And the more I read the script, the more I hated this guy, so that’s how I played him, as a manic-depressive who hates himself.

Pattinson could not help himself when he added,“Plus, he’s a 108-year-old virgin, so he’s obviously got some issues there.”Apart from having mixed emotions about his own character, the actor also claimed that most of the things in the Twilight world just did not make a lot of sense. From why the Cullens were going to school to the irony of them driving cars when they could run faster, he has pointed out a lot of the flaws in the work.
