Nirnroot is a weird ingredient used to create Elixirs of Exploration inThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. They’re strange because they create a weird deep hum when you’re close to them. Here’s where to spot this green resource in Cyrodill; they can be quite tricky to find if you don’t know where to look.
Nirnroot Location
To begin your alchemic quest to make various Elixirs of Exploration, you’ll need to find theNirnrootwithin the wildlands of Cyrodill. It’s located near the waters of the land, just on the shore. If you follow the path down the eastern side of Imperial City, you’ll find half a dozen by the water. There are even some by the Imperial City Waterfront near the ships. Just watch out for the Mud Crabs, who can stalk you, especially if you leave the game for a few minutes without pausing.
Some of the Nirnroot may be tricky to spot. One was clinging near a broken bridge, while another laid under some ruins. Stick to the path beside the river east of the Imperial City and you should spot some. Putting on some headphones or earphones while playing the game will help too as you can listen out for a whirring humming sound nearby to spot where the Nirnroot is.

The Northern riverside area of the Imperial City also holds a few Nirnroot.
What Can You Do With Nirnroot?
Once you’ve picked up one Nirnroot, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered gives you a quest called Seeking Your Roots. You’ll need to go to an alchemist within a city in Cyrodill. Most of them will have one available. If you head to Bravil, you can find an alchemist called Ardaline in the Mages Guild. Select “Nirnroot” to begin the conversation with her. She’ll tell you that she knows someone who knows about Nirnroot.

Give him the Nirnroot, and he puts you up to a collecting expedition. Say “Sure, what did you have in mind?” Follow the conversation tree until you’re off to collect 10 samples of Nirnroot. Talk to him and then select the “Elixir of Exploration” and he’ll tell you to come back in 24 hours. Wait for that long, and then he’ll have the Weaker version of the potion available to you. You can upgrade it if you find more Nirnroots for him.
