As the gaming world eagerly anticipates the arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2, there’s good news for fans who were frustrated by the original console’s launch plagued by scalpers. As noted by Stealth Optional, several reports suggest that Nintendo is taking decisive steps to ensure the Switch 2 launch will be free from the supply chain issues that marred previous console releases.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be a hot commodity, with scalpers resorting to extreme measures, such as buying Apple Vision Pro headsets for resale at exorbitant prices. However, Nintendo seems determined to outsmart scalpers by preparing a whopping10 million unitsfor shipment during the launch year.

According to insights shared by Bloomberg reporter Takashi Mochizuki, the company is looking to avoid the stock shortages that affected competitors like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series during the 2020 global chip shortage. Mochizuki stated, “Display shipment data suggest Nintendo would make 10M+ of next-gen console in initial FY. Unlike PS5 and XSX/S that faced chip shortages at launch, Nintendo’s would be much easier to find at stores.”
While the anticipation for the Nintendo Switch 2 is high, some details have surfaced about its specifications. Mochizuki noted that the console will feature an8-inch LCD screen, disappointing some fans hoping for an OLED display. However, he hinted that an OLED version might be in the pipeline for a future release.

“About OLED version, Omdia says not ‘for this year’,” Mochizuki clarified, leaving room for speculation about a potential upgraded model in the future.
Although the exact release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 remains undisclosed, insiders suggest a launch later this year. Developers have reportedly received dev kits, showcasing the console’s capabilities with support for DLSS, ray-tracing, and more. The new handheld/console hybrid is poised to continue Nintendo’s success in the gaming market.
In a reassuring move for current Switch owners, ongoing support for the original console is expected. This includes cross-gen first-party releases, with rumors circulating about the much-anticipated Metroid Prime 4 finally making its debut. Additionally, third-party games are expected to continue making their way to the platform.
However, the question of backward compatibility for the Nintendo Switch 2 remains unanswered. Given Nintendo’s track record of supporting this feature in previous systems, fans are hopeful that the ability to play old Switch games on the Switch 2 will be part of the new console’s features. As the launch date approaches, gamers worldwide are eagerly awaiting further details from Nintendo about the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2.
