8Kindred Spirits
When Hope initially goes to Josie for help, she calls them “kindred spirits in revenge.” Although it is not smooth sailing from there, it is the first hint of understanding the duo’s potential.Throughout the four seasons, Josie and Hope prove they know each other very well, perhaps better than anyone else. They both struggled in the fight against their dark sides, and each went above and beyond to save the other from it. In addition, Hope and Josie each felt immensely pressured in environments that asked so much of them.
7The Talisman
A simple necklace Hope gifts Josie for her sixteenth birthday winds up being far more critical than anyone initially realized. Hope gives Josie the necklace as a potential olive branch in their growing friendship, but it also has an alternative use. The Talisman is spelled to make quiet things heard, something that saves Josie’s life later than night after Josie’s briefly resurrected and possessed biological mother, Jo, buries her alive.
When Josie leaves Mystic Falls in search of a way to save Hope, she has the Talisman with her. In the series finale, Hope reveals that Josie had sent the Talisman back to her, explaining that Josie had spelled the Talisman, which helped bring Hope’s humanity back. Since the Talisman’s first introduction, it has bonded Hope and Josie together.

6Returning Memories Of Hope
Granted, Josie did not do this because she remembered Hope. Josie did it because she realized that she, and everyone else, had forgotten Hope. But, before Josie can bring everyone’s memories back, she goes further than anyone else, including Lizzie, who already remembered Hope. Josie travels to New Orleans to get help from Freya Mikaelson in grasping the Japanese purge spell. Josie’s decisions stem from knowing Hope’s family deserved to know the truth and remember their niece.
Hope had seemed sad but unconvinced about revealing her return to anybody. But, because Josie took the step forward, she could give Hope her life back, including Hope’s relationships with her family and friends.

5Hope’s Return To The Salvatore School
Josie and Landon start a brief romance after Hope is gone from their memories. But, when they both remember Hope, things get a little awkward for all three involved. AlthoughHope and Josie’s blossoming friendshipdoes not return to normal immediately after regaining memories, it is safe to say that they do not allow Landon to get in the way.
Hope is aware that feelings are hurt but still goes to Josie first before re-enrolling in school, wanting to make sure it is okay. They had a heartfelt conversation, acknowledging that Hope had missed Josie and being at the school. As Landon reveals his intention to leave in a note after already disappearing into the night, Josie tells Hope that she wants Hope to stay and that it is her school and home.

4Hope Refused To Give Up on Josie
When Dark Josie took over, some of the Super Squad wanted to look at dealing with Josie like any other monster. Hope did not allow that. Instead, whenever anyone got in the way of her plans to save Josie, such as Kaleb and Alaric, she sent them into the therapy box to prevent them from interfering. Hope knew Josie was still inside and refused to give up on her or suggest the darkness had won. The final step of Hope’s plan sends her into Josie’s subconscious.
3Hope Inspired Josie To Save Herself
Hope’s journey into Josie’s subconscious is not precisely what she likely imagined. Hope issurrounded by a fairytale worldand an obnoxious pig that refuses to be kind to Hope. 2Josie Brought Hope’s Humanity Back
When nearly everyone believed Hope’s humanity could no longer be reached, and they may have to start discussing more dangerous options, Josie always believed in Hope. Josie spoke to Freya on the phone and frequently searched for Hope, devoting all of her time to figuring out how to bring Hope’s humanity back. Others may have given up, but Josie never did, going as far asbringing out her dark counterpart to face off against No-Humanity Hopeeven though her dark side had been known to frighten her. It could also be noted that despite being without her humanity, Hope still refused to do much harm to Josie, even though she had been willing to do far worse to Alaric and Lizzie.
Even though Hope put Josie in the therapy box, seemingly wishing for Josie to back off and deem her unreachable, it only fueled Josie’s wish to save Hope. Josie’s therapy box portrays her at Mikaelson Memorial Hospital, portraying the Mikaelson family as doctors and heroes. Josie’s journey eventually results in her successful plan to bring back Hope’s humanity due to a powerful spell on the Talisman and staging a Mikaelson family reunion.
1A God-Made Weapon
After discovering that Josie was responsible for the plan that brought Hope’s humanity back to the forefront, Hope knew with absolute certainty what to do with the only weapon in the world that could kill her. Given Josie’s determination to save Hope and her stubborn refusal to harm Hope, Hope knew the weapon would be safe with someone who would never use it. Sending the weapon to Josie suggests the high amount of faith and trust Hope must have in Josie to send her something so vital.
