How to Capture Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds
Get extra crafting materials by capturing every monster you come across.
Getting Started to Invite Friends
While simple, these new changes can be harder to grasp compared to what Monster Hunter players are used to.
In previous entries in the series, you could join a friend’s lobby and go to the quest board to join said quest. Unfortunately, it isn’t quite like that in Monster Hunter Wilds this time around. When you log into the game and complete the starting mission, you’ll be put into a random lobby that has most likely been filled with other players. So, to start your hunts with friends, you’ll need to set up a single-player or private lobby so that you and your friends can get started.
From here you’re able to go into theCommunicationsection in the start menu and invite your friends to aLink Partyor your lobby. Afterward, when your friends are in the lobby, you can post a quest like in the past games and friends can speak withAlmato join you on your hunts.

Link Party vs Environmental Party
There are two options once a friend joins your party.
Something that isn’t explained in Monster Hunter Wilds is Link or Environmental parties, and when it is, it still won’t make a ton of sense until you experiment with them. Link Parties will work across lobbies and will allow your friends to access the quests you post on the board through Alma, meaning they don’t have to be in the same lobby with you to hunt during these quests.
AnEnvironmental Linkis slightly different though, which is where this new party and lobby system can get confusing. Since Wilds is a somewhat open-world game now, you can now go on expeditions at will rather than post these quests on the board and then head out with friends. Once you and your friends are in an Environmental Link, you can explore the maps and hunt any monsters that will appear in the world.

One more thing to know about Link and Environmental parties is that a Link party works forSOS Flareswhile on a quest. Allowing you to accept a quest, toss out your flare, and then your friends can hop into the hunt. An Environmental Link will not allow this and will lock you out from posting normal quests, making these options odd to get the hang of. But once you’ve gotten the hang of these new features, you’ll be able to invite friends in no time.
