While the process of transferring your horses from BotW to TotK is easy, there are a few things that you’ll need to be aware of. If you played throughBreath of the Wildon theWii U, you will not be able to use your old horses. This is going directly fromtheSwitchversion ofBOTW, so if you had some noble stallions on yourWii U, it’s time to say goodbye… or, you can keep playing BOTW on the Wii U, no judgment here. We loved the Wii U.

If you’re one of the many that recently purchased a newOLEDSwitch, you’ll also need to make sure that you’ve transferred yourBOTWsave file onto your new system. This is a necessary piece of information, especially if you’re planning on taking advantage of this feature. No save file, no horses… until you find one in the wild, that is.

But, once you have made your way toHyrule, you’ll need to visit aStableand speak to the person behind the counter to get the process started. Even if you haven’t found a horse inTears of the Kingdomyet, you’ll want to sayTake Horsefrom the available options. The stablehand will start giving you a hard time about anInvisible Horse, and then realize that you have horses boarded here already, and stop hassling you.

After he’s done being a jerk, you’ll be able to selectTake Horseonce again and see your old friends in a new world.
