Sons of the Forestis a vast game with many tasks to occupy your time. From crafting to building a base for yourself, you’ll find something new to do with every passing hour. One way to help with the grind of things inSons of the Forestis the new companion system, which allows certain NPCs to help you out during your stay on the island. There are currently two NPC companions inSons of the Forest: Kelvin, and Virginia. If Virginia disappears in your game for seemingly no reason, don’t fret, as it is a known bug. Here’s how you can try to fix the Virginia glitch inSons of the Forest.
Steps to try and fix the Virginia glitch inSons of the Forest
Firstly, let’s discuss the bug. During gameplay, if you damage Virginia, she will flee and sometimes never come back. This can also happen if you don’t damage her, making the exact cause of the glitch relatively hard to pin down. The first step you may take to seeing if this bug has even occurred to you is to check your map if you gave Virginia a GPS Locator. If you didn’t know, you can give NPC companions GPS Locators, which will show their location on the map if they get separated from you on your journey. This is an easy way to check if any of them are still alive or on the map. But if this glitch has happened to you, know there are a few steps you can take to fix this.
Reloading the game
If you quit out of the game and reload, itshouldfix the Virginia glitch. Quitting out and returning resets the game world, and will hopefully mean that Virginia is visible and on the map again. The method can also be used toforever spawn items.
Sleeping for a day
Probably the easiest way of potentially fixing the Virginia glitch is to just sleep for a day. This is likely to make Virginia return to the game world and be visible and interactable again. If you want to make sure, seeing as it only costs you a few consumables, you could sleep for a second time to make sure. If she doesn’t reappear with this method, you may always refer back to the first strategy to see if that will work. This is the easiest way to do it without needing to spend all that time reloading your world however.
Community-found fix for the Virginia glitch
There is a community-found fix for the Virginia glitch inSons of the Forest. If you go to thisSteam Forumpost, you can see in-depth steps on how to potentially fix the glitch by warping her to Kelvin’s location. This method requires you to dive into your PC files and mess with your save file however, so be careful and back up your save before messing with it.
Loading an oldSons of the Forestsave
If none of those fix the issue for you, then sadly there is only one way you can hope to to fix it:reloading an old save from before Virginia disappeared. This will probably be painful for you to do, as you’ll probably be undoing a lot of time and effort, but it might be the only way to fix the Virginia glitch if nothing else has worked for you.
