Now that Mid’s set up shop in the basement, creating her own dungeon, a whole host of nerds has infested the place. And Owain might be one of the most useful nerds there because he offers the quest Weird Science. Here’s how to complete Weird Science in Final Fantasy 16.

Weird Science Quest Guide in Final Fantasy 16

Owain the Engineer has a big idea on how to use Bomb ash to filter out the impurities in an alembic. But naturally, he can’t do that without a super rare ingredient –Bomb King ash. And, of course, it falls to Clive to get it.

There’s a fuller guide below, but to complete Weird Science in Final Fantasy 16 you’ll need to:

1)Gather details on the King Bomb

Go to the Hunt Board in front of The Mess in the Hideaway and a new Notorious Mark will be added. This Bomb King is hidden in a Fallen airship in a grove in Sanbreque.

2)Go to The Dragon’s Aery, Eastern Sanbreque

Once you’ve read the Bomb King’s flyer, head to the world map. Eastern Sanbreque is on the far right. Press local map while hovering over it to select The Dragon’s Aery Obelisk.

3)How to Find the Bomb King in Final Fantasy 16

When you’ve loaded into The Dragon’s Aery, follow the edge of the map south and you’ll eventually find an almost hidden path in the trees that leads to The Imperial Chase. Follow the trail down to its end and take the first left. If you find yourself at an abandoned-looking house, you’ve gone too far.

When you’ve found the Fallen airship, prepare yourself for a fight. The Bomb King has a small health pool and middling stamina, but it has some powerful area-of-effect moves. Take your time completing this fight, staying out of range when it summons its echoes.

4)Collect Bomb King Ash

Once the Bomb King is dead, it will drop Bomb King ash on the ground. You’ll have to manually pick these up, and there are three in total.

5)Return to Owain

When you’ve collected all three ash piles, return to Owain in Mid’s dungeon. He’ll be delighted and offer you a significant reward. He’ll upgrade your consumable item inventory slots! You can now carry more healing items.

And on top of that, you’ll get 900 experience and 40 renown. Not too shabby!
