If you’ve completed Cryptic Quatrains I, congrats! Now you must complete Cryptic Quatrains II. Fortunately, this quest is very similar to the last segment, so let’s jump right on it and get that treasure. Here’s how to complete Cryptic Quatrains 2 in Destiny 2.
How to Complete the Quest Cryptic Quatrains 2 in Destiny 2
If you’ve yet to unlock Cryptic Quatrains 2 and you’re here wondering how to do so, all you’ll need to do is reach Star Chart Rank 10 and obtaining the Medium Treasure Beacon. This will trigger the start of the quest.
Once you have the quest, you’ll get your first riddle. It reads:
Thebayfilled mechest, althoughdrownI did not
I coughed and I shivered me way through themist
Theydreamed I waslost, my sad scarper for naught
Yet all that Iwished for was tight in me fist
Beautiful.
Each of the bolded words refers to a particular location. In this case, it refers to theDreaming Cityand theBay ofDrowned Wishes Lost Sectorin the.
If you’re struggling to find this Lost Sector, head to the quick travel point then turn around. The area here is smothered in mist, which this segment of the map is named for. But you’ll see a small hill of rocks. Climb atop them and start jumping around approximately where the Lost Sector is. You should soon see the Lost Sector graffiti that marks the entrance.
Once inside, complete the Lost Sector as normal. Once you loot the chest, the second step will trigger.
Our next riddle reads:
I swore I wasdeadat the shore of thelake
Theirshadowsstretched long as they searched the debris
But though they didstrikeout at me and me take
Their words found me ears, but they didn’t find me
Yes! It’s time for my favorite Strike,Lake of Shadowsin the EuropeanDeadZone. It’s my favorite because it’s short, by the way.
Open your map to the EDZ and you’ll find a Strike Icon in the bottom left of your screen. Select it and you’ll be able to play through this Raid. Complete it as normal, and you’ll get Step 3.
Step 3’s riddle reads as follows:
Me longexpeditionled to no reward
Me bones cried for rest and yet I could not yield
Lest I hear the sound of a crewmate’s drawnsword
I shivered with terror at what they mightwield
You’ll predictably need to go toExpeditionsfor this one. Go the H.E.L.M.’s map,equip a sword into your Power Weapon slot, and complete anExpedition. Doing so will trigger Step 4.
The next riddle provides:
The red ground ofNessuswould soon be me grave
Acolumnreached high into alien hue
Thoughcisterndid beckon, no water it gave
Atpyramid’s imprint, I sought topass through
Hmmm. It seems like they’re running out of ideas. But that just makes it easier for us. Go toNessusand use the quick travel point to head to theCistern. Unlike the last few Riddles, we’ll need to put in some leg work from here.
From where you spawn in, in the far distance, just beyond the waterfall of Vex milk, you should see a broken pillar/column. That’s where you’ll need to go. It’s a bit of a jog, so jump onto your Sparrow and let that pillar be your guiding light.

I’ve provided a screenshot of thepyramid imprintyou’ll need to seek out. This is actually a door, and once you enter you’ll see a glowing green marker on the ground to the right. Interact with it, and you’ll trigger the last step.
Last riddle! It says:
Me crewmates were nearing, t’was just as I feared
And terriblefluid did fall from the sky
I fancied I noticed, beyondbroken sphere,
A place that was safe for metreasureand I
Hopefully you’re reading this from where Step 4 left you, because we’ll need to be in theCistern in Nessusfor this next step. Leave through the same pyramid-shaped door that you entered through, then head exactly North. You’ll soon see a Vex Milk waterfall in the distance, leaving a fine white mist in the air. Head towards it… but not too far. You’ll want to keep to land, as looks are deceiving. There’s a hidden kill wall if you head too close to the waterfall.
Instead, use my screenshot to try and find the large stone/metal orb on the ground. If you find this metal sphere, head a little north and you’ll soon find a green mark on the ground. Approach this mark and you’ll be able to dig up the buried treasure!
