Near the end ofClair Obscur: Expedition 33, Esquie will finally obtain theability to fly, something that no doubt has taunted you the moment you saw a location in the sky. This unlocks a significant amount of side content, from more Gestral Beach mini-games, various costumes to collect, and bizarre dungeons to progress through.

The Chosen Path is less of a dungeon than it is a boss rush, putting you up against various smaller bosses to unlock the path ahead. The Catch? Only one character can fight each of the five paintings, and once they’ve had their turn, they must sit on the sideline. This means you will need to gear and equip appropriate Pictos on all characters in order to get through this gauntlet smoothly.

Boss #1: Glaise

Starting from the left side of the room first, Glaise is the first boss and is probably the easiest to deal with. It’s weak to ice and its main attack is a ground pummel that sends three delayed waves of Earth damage at you.

Bos #2: Benisseur

The next familiar face to go up against is Benisseur. His main attack is a 4-hit spear attack that has a normal > normal > slow > slow attack pattern. He really doesn’t offer a lot of challenge, so pretty much bring your weakest character against Benisseur.

Boss #3: Stalact

The oversized golem that you fight when you first meet Monoco, not a lot has changed with his boss. It will start with three shields that you’ll want to disrupt immediately, and it helps that his main attack consists of a three-part jump attack. It will also do a four-hit combo which consists of four slow attacks, by far the biggest pain in the fight. As for weaknesses, it will start weak against fire and absorbs ice, but will swap the two if you use the corresponding weakness attack on it. Near death, it will gain six shields and begin a process that will kill itself in an explosion. Simply take down the shields or prepare to dodge/parry the explosion. This takes two turns.

Boss #4: Jar

Just named Jar, this boss fight is no different from the fights you had with the larger enemies wielding a club. Its main attack is a four-hit combo that has anormal > fast > normal > slow pattern. It is unfortunately resistant to normal attacks, but overall it’s a fairly weak enemy compared to the rest in this area.

Boss #5: Contorsionniste

By far the most challenging of the bunch, the Contorsionniste has a vital weak point but can be a bit tricky with its movements. This boss features the weak point of an eyeball that moves around, which can be troublesome given the bizarre movements of the boss itself. Sometimes it’s stationary, and the eye is easily accessible, while other times you need to calculate its movements. Regardless, it’s resistant to Ice attacks, so be cautious when using characters with a cold weapon.

It does feature a rather slow Gradiant Parry, which you will need to time based on when its feet are pulled back fully, otherwise it will bind you. It will also try to absorb your health with a fast attack, only dealing a little bit of damage, but regenerate tens of thousands of HP upon a successful strike. It also has a six-hit combo that can be a bit tricky, but most of the attacks outside the last are fast.

Final Reward

In the end, unlocking the final door at the top of the stairs doesn’t net you too much, but it’s the journey that’s the important part.
