Head Rod Fergusson of studio The Coalition which works on Gears of War is leaving to join Blizzard for Diablo.

Rod Fergusson announced his departure from The Coalition and that he will be joining Blizzard to work on the Diablo franchise. Fergusson is veteran to both Microsoft and Epics Games as well as working on Bioshock in the past. He began his career working for Microsoft in the 1990s. It was early in 2000 that he went on to join Epic Games, developing the Gears of War franchise. Fergusson then went onto to join The Coalition which took over Gears of War after they purchased the franchise from Epic Games.

Blizzard

His next move is to Blizzard where he’ll be working on theDiablofranchise. He shared in a tweet about his plans and thanked his developer as well as Gears fans.

Fergusson is joining Blizzard at quite a bumpy time, with recent back lash of Warcraft 3: Reforged not being well-received by fans of the game.Diablo 4was announced at last Blizzcon, confirming the next entry in the franchise is in development, but when it will be ready is still unknown. We do know that quarterly updates will be happening throughout this year, the first being planned between now and March. While there was a demo seen a BlizzCon, it was seen as a “first-step”.
