Despite Gaping Jaw taking the shape of a deformed dragon, there can only be one true dragon inElden Ring Nightreign. We’re, of course, talking about Caligo, Miasma of Night from theFissure in the Fogmission. This is one of the last bosses you can queue for, being one of the more challenging mainly because of how frustratingly agile it can be. With that said, there are various means of taking care of Caligo, and we have the exact means to help you.
How to Unlock The Sorcerer’s Rise Towers in Elden Ring Nightreign
You’ll have to do a bit of digging to unlock these mysterious towers.
Weakness: Fire
Caligo Moveset
Description
Straight Breath
One of the more common attacks, Caligo will breathe ice in front of him.
180-Degree Breath
Caligo will do a large 180-degree ice breath in front of him.
Flying Breath
Taking to the sky, Caligo will come in sweeping with a breath of ice.
Beneath his Feet
Caligo will arch his back-up and breathe a heavy breath down at his feet.
Tail Swipe
If you stick too close to his behind, he will occasionally swipe his tail at you.
Caligo will engulf the arena in fog and disappear. You will hear a crackling noise from a direction where he will convert all the fog in the sky to sharp icicles.

Transition
Caligo will go berserk and summon giant ice tornadoes around the arena.
Explosive Fog
Along with the Icy Sky attack, Caligo will also charge up an attack along with erect icy pillars that need to be stood behind.
Flying Ballista
Taking to the sky once more, this time Caligo will charge a player, sending various chunks of ice flying towards them.
Tail Slash
Caligo will take aim at one player and use his tail as a catalyst for a forward-slashing ice attack. This generally coincides with little ice bombs around the arena.
The Fissure in the Fog is one of the most challenging boss fights, not because of its difficult mechanics, but because of how mobile the dragon is. Caligo, Misama of Night, will constantly fly to a different spot, and when he’s not flying, he’s likely doing an AOE attack around him. On top of that, he will consistently leave pools of ice around the arena, and if you step in them, it will build up Frost.

That is the biggest issue with both melee and ranged attackers: Caligo’s breath. There are times when he will perch up, staying relatively still for too long, indicating it will unleash a large AOE blast around him, and other times he will simply breathe in a 180-degree cone in front of him. There’s no good indicator of how far you need to be to outrange it, so it’s mostly playing at your own discretion.
There are two major mechanic-based attacks that Caligo will do throughout the fight that involve him flying away and shrouding the arena in fog. It’s a matter of using your sight and hearing to determine which is which. One will show a pulsating suction towards a certain location. If you see this, you will need to run towards the effect and find one of the many pillars that have been erected and stand behind it, breaking line of sight.

The other is listening for crackling. When you hear crackling, what you need to do is immediately identify the direction in which the sound effect is coming from and immediately sprint as far away as possible. This is because Caligo will be freezing the clouds above him in a certain radius from the center of the arena, and it will bring down those newly formed sharp icicles down upon you if you’re not far enough out.
The only other attack you need to watch out for is when Caligo starts to fly in the air, and he will either unleash a nasty breath, or will start shooting shards of ice towards you. The latter is far easier to dodge because the hitbox on each shard is fairly forgiving, and you can easily time rolls in-between the patterns. The former is a lot harder to avoid, especially if he’s specifically targeting you.
