EA Sports FC 25, the 2024 iteration of EA’s long-running football video game franchise, is set to introduce a much-requested change to its popular Ultimate Team mode. With the game’s release date just over two months away, fans are eagerly dissecting every detail revealed in the official trailer and announcements.

Among the many talking points surrounding the game, one particular Quality of Life improvement has stood out—addressing a feature that has long been a thorn in the side of Ultimate Team players.
The End of Contract Cards in Ultimate Team
In a recent“Pitch Notes”community update blogpost, EA confirmed that the infamous Contract consumable items would no longer be a part of the Ultimate Team mode starting withEA Sports FC 25:
Player Items and Managers will no longer need contracts, we’re looking to enable you to get back to the on-pitch action quicker than before.

This announcement comes as a relief to many players who have long argued that Contract cards serve no real purpose other than to pad out packs with filler items:
TheseFIFAContract cards, which come in various rarities, have been a staple of Ultimate Team for years. Their sole purpose has been to extend the number of matches a player or manager can participate in before needing to be“renewed.”

While the system was originally intended to add a layer of realism and resource management to the mode, it quickly became a tedious and frustrating aspect of the game, especially for regular players.
Streamlining EA Sports FC 25’s Ultimate Team
The community has long argued that Contract cards add nothing of value to the Ultimate Team experience, serving only as an unnecessary obstacle to enjoying the mode. Many players have requested their removal, and it seemsEAhas finally listened.
However, that isn’t the only good news forEA FCfans this year: the decision to remove Contract cards is, in fact, justoneof the many Quality of Life improvements coming to Ultimate Team inEAFC 25.

The game will also introduce a new“SBC Storage”feature, which will allow players to store up to 100 duplicate player cards for use in Squad Building Challenges, addressing another common pain point for the community.

Furthermore, EA has promised to make the Evolution system—which allows players to upgrade their favorite cards through various stat boosts and playstyle changes—more accessible and rewarding. The developers plan to increase the number of eligible cards for Evolutions and reduce the overall requirements, making it easier for players to improve their squads.
