Goku and Vegeta are two of the most well-known characters in theDragon Balluniverse. Although they began as enemies inDragon Ball Z, by the timeDragon Ball Superbegins, Goku and Vegeta are virtually best buddies. The experiences the two have had inDragon Ball Zand elsewhere unquestionably cement their bond. Though friends, Goku and Vegeta may appear to be opposites but they do share some similarities. Despite their differences, fans have long pondered if the two characters might have more in common than what is seen in the series.
Although Vegeta would hate to admit the similarities, they have been rivals for a long time and have trained together a lot too. It is obvious that when some characters spend so much time with each other, they tend to develop similarities between them and are portrayed as parallel.

Goku and Vegeta’s Rivalry That Became a Competiton of Strength
The relentless attempts of Goku and Vegeta to outdo each other have established the standard for rivals in fight anime and all series. When Goku and Vegeta first met in the Saiyan Saga, their animosity began. At the time, Goku needed to protect the Earth, or Vegeta would either conquer or destroy it, as he had done to many other worlds. This backfired on him when he was defeated in the fight. By the end of the battle, Goku had decided to spare Vegeta. For years to come, this fight would define Goku and Vegeta’s rivalry.
As time passed, both characters began to perceive one other as rivals for the title of strongest, and this rivalry was loved by fans. However, not only did this rivalry forge a competition of strength, but it also developed a lot of similarities between the two characters.

Goku and Vegeta Became Parallel Characters
Vegeta acknowledges inDragon Ball Superchapter 76 by Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou that he failed to perfect Hakai because he couldn’t be the callous, unfeeling, power-hungry guy he was at the outset of hisDragon Ballcareer. Even Goku had learned something similar a few chapters earlier. InDragon Ball SuperChapter 25, Goku attempted to employ Hakai on Zamasu, believing that it was the only way to defeat this god-tier villain. However, because Goku is a kind person, the strike had little effect. This suggests that duringDragon Ball Z, while Vegeta was observing Goku and aspiring to his level of power, he also took up his kindness and evolved into a very comparable character.
Goku and Vegeta’s rivalry which developed into a competition that later became friendship may have also made the characters similar to each other in a way that may be not easy for fans to realize, but in a broader perspective, they have become parallel characters.
