When I first got into jailbreaking more than a decade ago, one of the firstjailbreak tweaksto pique my interest was one calledBarrel. It could animate the Home Screen’s app icons in unique ways with every swipe between Home Screen pages.
Barrel is no longer actively maintained, which is why theCylindertweak launched back in 2014. Today, we’re excited to share news of the release ofCylinder Rebornby iOS developersRyan NairandReed Weichler— the latest iteration of the tweak designed for iOS & iPadOS 13 and 14.

Right off the bat, Cylinder Reborn fills me with a boatload of nostalgia. As the old saying goes, ‘they just don’t make ‘em like they used to,’ and Cylinder Reborn hits close to home as a testament to the golden days of jailbreaking when there was absolutely no shortage of new ideas for jailbreak tweak ideas and releases.
Cylinder Reborn comes with more than five dozen animations to pick from, and also allows users to select more than one animation to randomize how they appear as you page left and right through theHome Screen. Moreover, you can save your setups individually through what are known as Formulas.

Once installed, Cylinder Reborn adds a simple preference pane to the Settings app where users can configure the tweak to their liking:
Options here include:
One thing we find neat about Cylinder Reborn is that you can have more than one animation selected. Typically, the animations happen in the order you select them — hence the numbers in the screenshot above — but you may also opt to randomize their order.
Cylinder Reborn is a great way to add classic character tojailbrokeniOS 11, 12, 13, and 14 devices, and isavailable as a free download from the Chariz repositoryvia your favorite package manager. Furthermore, the tweakis open source on the developer’s GitHub pagefor those interested in learning more about what makes it tick.
