Captain MarvelstarBrie Larsonwill swap the super-powers for a souped-up muscle car in the upcoming action sequelFast X. Larsonhas now shared an image of herself alongside head of the family Vin Dieselin a behind-the-scenes image from the movie, with the pair clearly having a good time as the two actors celebrate Diesel’s birthday.

Captioning the joyous-looking image with a reference to theFast and Furiousfranchise’s family theme, Larson says, “A little family for your timeline. Happy Birthday, @vindiesel.” It is unknown how exactly Brie Larson will fit into theFast Xproceedings, but she is just one of several new faces who will be added to the franchise in its tenth outing.

Not Everyone is Having a Good Time MakingFast X

While Brie Larson is clearly having a ball makingFast Xwith Vin Diesel, this has not been the case for everyone involved. Following just a week or so of filming, director Justin Lin, who is often commended for reigniting the franchise with bothFast 5andFast & Furious 6,walked away fromFast Xafter an apparent disagreement with Diesel.

After reportedly showing up to filming out of shape (and probably late),Lin decided to depart the project following what was described as a “major disagreement” with the actor and lead.Diesel reportedly attended a meeting with new notes, which irked Justin Lin as he believed the script to be finished, with the meeting ending with “a slammed door.” Sources have since said that “Justin finally had enough and said, ‘This movie is not worth my mental health.’” Louis Letterier will now helm Fast X for Universal Pictures.

Despite all this, Brie Larson seems to be incredibly pleased to join the ranks of theFast and the Furious, with the actress taking to social to celebrate following the initial casting announcement. “Excited doesn’t even begin to explain how I feel about joining the Fast family,” Larson said. “Thank you for welcoming me in with so much kindness and excitement, @vindiesel. can’t wait to share more (when I can).”

In turn,Diesel has welcomed Larson to the family saying, “Yeah yeah yeah… you see this angel over my shoulder cracking me up, you say to your self ‘That’s Captain Marvel.’ Clearly there is love and laughter in this image. What you don’t see however, is the character you will be introduced to in ‘Fast 10.’ You have no idea how timeless and amazing she will be in our mythology. Beyond her beauty, her intellect… her Oscar, haha is this profound soul who will add something you might not have expected but yearned for. Welcome to the FAMILY Brie.”

Fast Xis scheduled to be released in the United States on August 24, 2025.
