This marks a new milestone for a game that has been on the market for barely five months. It adds to its record-breaking achievements of selling 10 million copies in three days and 18 million in the first two weeks.

Additionally, an estimated 75% of its sales come from China, where the gaming community remains so enthusiastic about the title that they are purchasing all its merchandise.

Tmall, Alibaba’s store selling Black Myth: Wukong products, reported merchandise sales worth 3 million yuan (approximately 400,000 euros).

The figure is even more impressive considering that these sales occurred within the first three days of the store’s opening.

Wukong’s enthusiastic fans have completely sold out figures, accessories, and all kinds of promotional products. In fact, demand is so high that shipments may take up to three months to be delivered.

This success comes despite criticism regarding the quality of some merchandise. Even the high prices haven’t stopped impulsive buyers, with over 500 customers purchasing items worth 500 yuan or more.

Game Science, the creators ofBlack Myth: Wukong, aim to capitalize on the franchise’s success by establishing a new team within the studio dedicated entirely to developing new merchandise.

Wukong’s influence extends beyond its own success, benefiting other studios as well. Its impact has made Chinese investors recognize the potential of AAA single-player games. Thanks to this, Phantom Blade Zero has secured additional funding for its development.
