There has been a lot of talk lately aboutMan of Steel 2. Warner Bros. is rumored to be moving forward on this standalone sequel that solely focuses onSuperman. We’veheardthatMad Max: Fury RoaddirectorGeorge Millerhas been offered the job. We’ve also heard story details that claim Supergirl,BrainiacandBizarroare all included in the mix. Though, that was said to have been from an early script before Bruce Wayne was brought into the mix. Speaking withjam.Canoe.com, directorZack Snyderconfirms thatMan of Steel 2is coming. And it’s calledBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He explains.

“I think in a way Batman v Superman is Man of Steel 2. Justice League is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It’d be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be.”

The way he makes it sound, Warner Bros. isn’t really interested in making another solo Superman movie in the near future. Even if fans seem to want it right away. Though, no one has yet said no to the rumor thatBen Affleckis set to co-write, direct and star in anUntitled Batman Reboot, which is said to set up a new trilogy. While DC and Warner Bros. seemed to have their comic book movie line-up set until 2020, it’s always possible that we’ll hear about more movies being added to the mix before release in 2019. But it sounds like an impossible task with 10 movies already on the way.

Even if we do seeMan of Steel 2before 2020, it’s unlikely thatZack Snyderwill be at the helm. He already has his hands quite full withBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which he will immediately follow-up withJustice League Part 1andJustice League Part 2. About bringing that epic two-part adventure to the screen, he had this to say.

“We really have to figure out the why of them. And I think that we have. That’s the one thing that’s cool to me about Batman v Superman, it’s all about the mythology of these two massive icons. And I think that’s compelling.”

After making such hits as theDawn Of The Deadremake and300, didZack Snyderever think he’d be making such epic DC Comics superhero movies? Not quite. While he doesn’t think his career path is ‘weird’, he does see it as exciting and challenging. He went onto say the following

“[When I made Dawn of the Dead], I was really into (Frank Miller’s comic) The Dark Knight Returns. I don’t know that I thought about it in those terms, but if you told me that I might make a Justice League movie, I wouldn’t think that that was weird. But I don’t think I would realize what it meant to pop culture the way it has struck pop culture right now. The pressure’s on us, the filmmakers, to make the movies better. It’s about human stories; it’s not just about big explosions and stuff. What are these people feeling?”

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.Zack SnyderdirectsBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicefrom a screenplay byChris Terrio.
