WhenBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicehits theaters next year, fans will not only get to see Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) going to war with one another, but we’ll also get our first look atGal GadotasWonder Woman. Of course, the 30-year-oldGal Gadotwill also be back for her own stand aloneWonder Womanmovie, along withJustice League Part 1andJustice League Part 2. Today we have new details about the character, which will apparently be revealed inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. A new report fromEl Mayimbeclaims that this version ofWonder Womanwill be “very old.” Here’s what he had to say below.
“In #BatmanvSuperman, Wonder Woman is old. Very old. How old? In the movie there are pictures of her that date HUNDREDS OF YEARS! BOOM!”
There have been rumors in the past that the stand aloneWonder Womanmovie will actually be a prequel toBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, showcasing the iconic character’s origins. What that origin may be is unclear, but it’s possible that they could use the original comics' origin, whereWonder Womanwas given life by the Olympian Gods, who crafted her out of a statue. It’s also possible that they use the New 52 origins, where she is the daughter of the mythical god Zeus, making her a demigod. This would certainly explain whyWonder Womanhas been around for “hundreds of years,” but this origin story has yet to be confirmed.
Since there is very little we know aboutBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,Wonder Womanand the rest of Warner Bros.' DC Comics slate, it remains to be see if this turns out to be true or not. The stand aloneWonder Womanmovie will hit theaters July 01, 2025, under the direction ofPatty Jenkins.
