Leslie Grace, who playedBatgirl, revealed some interesting details about the canceled film, including the dynamic between her character and Brendan Fraser’s Firefly. Grace praised Fraser, saying he is“one of the kindest people in the world”she has ever worked with.
“He’s one of the kindest people in the world, and I felt so blessed to have him as my sparring partner. We had so many amazing action scenes together where we were beating each other up, but hugging in between takes because he’s just so sweet. So I would’ve loved people to see those moments, but you know what? You have the experience, and you keep on rolling, and I feel so blessed, all in all, that I have those memories and hopefully maybe in some future, some clips will arise and people will get to enjoy a little bit of it.”

That shouldve been immediately obvious. The set photos showed it was set in a world where Keaton was Batman.
They literally could not do anything with this.
Releasing it when its not compatible with the new plan would doom it to the same fate as Shazam 2.

I think that it was part of it for sure, but the thing was that at the time it got cancelled, they didn’t have a new plan. Like they could’ve conceivably reshot Keaton’s scenes with a different actor and kept the rest of the movie.
