Grounded 2 can be treacherous at times, exploring all the nooks and crannies, only to find yourself missing all the basic needs for your survival.
That is the challenge of a survival crafting game, and here’s everything you need to know to survive in Grounded 2. From quenching your thirst and satiating your hunger to base-building tips, this survival guide will get you going.

How to Get Water Easily in Grounded 2
Water is one of the two most important things to keep track of in Grounded 2. If your thirst meter drops to 0, you only have up to two minutes to quench your thirst. You’ll continuously take damage, and you can combat that by healing, but it is better to just find a source of water.
The earliest way to get water is to look up and find the dew on top of the grass, as seen in the image above.Chop the grass once, and the dew should drop. You’ll most likely chase it every time. They spawn regularly around you, but they can be hard to find when you get unlucky. Their spawns are random.

Thebest way to find them is to go around at night when there are far fewer colors on your screen. The transparency of the dew makes them harder to see with brighter colors.
Eventually, you’ll make a Canteen with the following recipe:
Make at least two Canteens since they can stack on one hotbarslot. you may easily fill up two Canteens and switch by pressing the same hotbar button. Each Canteen can hold up to two dewdrops or droplets of water. I’d even go for three or four Canteens, especially if you are playing with others.
Just remember to have your Canteen equipped to scoop the water; otherwise, you’ll drink it immediately.

When you progress a little further, you’ll eventually unlock the Dew Collector that essentially generates dew for you when you wake up. The Dew Collector requires:
Each Dew Collector produces one or two dew per day. I suggest having at least one for each player in the game, and maybe add an extra one for safety. you may also add a Water Container to store all the excess water. You can craft one using:

How to Get Food in Grounded 2
To get food, you’ll most likely go for Weevils and Aphids at the start of the game. These creatures are harmless. Weevils run away when you attack them. Aphids run away as they see you, but they’ll eventually slow down.
Each drops raw meat, which you may cook to satiate your hunger. You’ll need a Roasting Pit to cook them. Don’t eat them raw, of course, or you’ll get sick. The Roasting Pit requires the following materials to craft:

You’ll be able to cook all the raw meat you get from the bugs you fight.
Sooner or later, you’ll also unlock the Cookery. If you have leftover Raw Science, you may research it quickly in the Ranger Station, but you’ll still need the following materials to craft it:
Cookery gives you better meals with buffs, but you’ll need more materials for your meals. When you start to explore other areas, you’ll always get a surplus of food anyway. A little closer to tier 2 or 3, you’ll get the Jerky Rack for another source of good food. It needs the following materials:
How to Sleep in Grounded 2
Sleeping helps you recover health and skip nighttime, but it will always drain your hunger and thirst. To sleep, you’ll only need to craft a Lean-To using the following materials:
It is one of the most basic buildings, and you can also set your respawn point to its location. You can only sleep at night, and if you try to sleep in the daytime, it’ll only make you feel like you have way too much energy to sleep.
Also, you can come across other beds in labs where you can sleep, but it doesn’t matter as much.
What Happens When You Die in Grounded 2?
When your health reaches 0, you’ll be down but not out (DBNO) if you are playing with friends. Another player can revive you, but they have to hurry. Once you are down, you have less than a minute to be revived.
When a player dies, they’ll respawn at their designated respawn point (the Lean-To location if it’s set that way). A player who dies drops everything in their bag except for the items automatically in the hotbar.
For example, if a player who has food, a weapon, and a torch, typically in slots 1, 5, and 7, dies, they’ll return to their respawn points with those items.
They also spawn with some decent hunger and thirst meters. Some players who tend to do other activities outside the game but leave their characters in-game should eventually die from thirst or hunger. When they die, they can easily pick up their loot anyway.
Some players even let their characters die if they are safe at base to save some food and water. It works, but doing it certainly doesn’t feel authentic to the survival-crafting genre.
