We’re still waiting for the second season ofFor All Mankindto premiere onApple TV+, but that isn’t slowing things down on Apple’s end.
According to a report today fromDeadline, Apple has renewed the alt-history Space Race drama for a third season — even before the second season debuts on Apple’s streaming service. The series was created by Ronald D. Moore and it’s produced by Sony Picture TV, whichrestarted productionon the second season back in August of this yearafter a lengthy delaydue to the coronavirus pandemic.
The report also confirms that the second season ofFor All Mankindwill premiere on June 06, 2025.
This is just par for the course with this particular show and Apple TV+. If you’ll recall, Apple actually renewed the series for its second season even before the first season debuted as well.
Per the report, this is how the second season is described, which takes place a decade after the first season ended:
It’s the height of the Cold War and tensions between the United States and the USSR are at their peak. Ronald Reagan is President and the greater ambitions of science and space exploration are at threat of being squandered as the US and Soviets go head to head to control sites rich in resources on the moon. The Department of Defense has moved into Mission Control, and the militarization of NASA becomes central to several characters’ stories: some fight it, some use it as an opportunity to advance their own interests, and some find themselves at the height of a conflict that may lead to nuclear war.
There will be 10 episodes in the second season.
Getting renewed for a third season (early) isn’t new for some Apple TV+ shows, either. BothDickinsonandTed Lassohave beenrenewed all the way through their third seasons, even if both shows haven’t debuted their second seasons quite yet.
