Aubrey Plaza’s appearance inAgatha All Alonghas stirred a string of theories from fans. While some argue that she is the master of Mystic Arts, Morgan le Fay, others shared that she is Lady Death herself. A popular theory also connects her to the MCU’s evil comic book villain, Mephisto. According to this theory, Plaza’s Rio Vidal is Blackheart, the daughter of Mephisto.

Fans have already found clues of Mephisto appearing in the series from the first episode. Connecting Rio Vidal to Mephisto is a strong supporting argument for that theory as well. From what little fans have learned of Plaza’s character, the Marvel lore of Blackheart seems to perfectly fit her.

Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal Could Be Blackheart InAgatha All Along

Aubrey Plazawas introduced as a warrior witch Rio Vidal, who is an old enemy of Agatha Harkness inAgatha All Along. She was the ex-lover of the series’ titular witch, played byKathryn Hahn. It was also revealed that they had a son Nicholas Scratch who was killed/sacrificed.

While ‘Rio Vidal is Death‘ theories are running rampant, another theory also fits into the storyline of Agatha. The first episode saw multiple mentions of“black heart”as Plaza’s character revealed that she has a heart and it’s black. All these point to the fact that she is the female version of Blackheart, who isthe son of Mephisto.

A“trickster”is mentioned in the first riddle in the house and Blackheart happens to be a known liar and trickster. It could also be possible that Rio Vidal tricked Agatha into killing her son. Agatha could’ve then killed her and sucked all her power out. She then returns as the pure evil energy Blackheart, created by Mephisto. The theories are endless!

Blackheart

Mephisto is Marvel’s incarnation of the Devil, the demon that rules over Hell/Hades. It was widely speculated that the villain would make an entry into the MCU in Agatha All Along. In the comics, Mephisto created Blackheart from evil energies in Christ’s Crown, New York.

Blackheart’s arrival could mean a lot of things for MCU. TheAgathaseries probably won’t be the end game for Plaza’s character as Blackheart had turned against his father in the comics. Blackheart would go on to recruit heroes to fight Mephisto, which could be a great kickstart for the post-Multiverse phases.

Mephisto Was Hinted Through One Scene In The First Episode

In one of the scenes from the first episode,Joe Locke‘s Teen cannot reveal his name to Agatha. Whenever he tries to say his name, his mouth disappears. Fans noticed that the letter M appears in place of his mouth. They deduced that it could be the doing of Mephisto and a hint at his character’s introduction later in the series.

The M also appeared in other material related to the series, which makes fans’ suspicions grow stronger. A set of tarot cards featuring M in the corner was released as part of the promotional art for the series (via @ScarletWitchUpd).Agatha All Alongwill have to release further episodes to get clarity on the Mephisto situation.
